Setting Up Tracking for Affiliate Progams

Improvely has everything you need to track commissions from affiliate marketing back to the ads and keywords that generated them. If you're an affiliate marketer, read this guide to learn how to set up your conversion tracking.

If the program or network allows you to provide them "conversion code", "a pixel", "tracking HTML" or "pixel image":

You can give them your project's Conversion Code snippet. Referred sales/leads will appear in your reports as new conversions immediately when people load this code on the website you're promoting.

If you can only paste in an image or image URL and not the full code provided, you can use the portion of the snippet between the <noscript> and </noscript> tags.

Link to your affiliate offers as usual, and use the New Tracking Link link in the Create New menu to track clicks from ads to your own website. You can stop reading here!

Retrieve Your Project's Conversion Code

If you cannot provide any kind of code or "pixel":

Improvely can still track your clicks and conversions by automatically adding tracking information to your affiliate links. Follow these steps to set up your tracking:
1. If you have your own website or landing pages where you link out to affiliate offers, replace those affiliate outlinks. We'll give you a new URL for each one that adds new tracking information to the offer URL before redirecting whenever it's clicked. Use the New Affiliate Outlink link in the Create New menu to create these special tracking links that replace your ordinary links.

2. If you directly advertise an affiliate link (e.g. have an ad on Bing pointing directly to your offer URL rather than to your own landing page or website), use the New Tracking Link tool in the Create New menu to get a replacement link for those ads. This link will add new tracking information to your affiliate link when your ad is clicked before redirecting the visitor there, as well as keep track of the performance of your ad.

3. After you have earned new commissions through your updated links, you can update your reports here by uploading a commission report from the affiliate network/program. Use the Import Affiliate Commissions tool in the Affiliate Marketing menu.
  
  The tracking values added to your links by the above tools will be matched up with your uploaded file to update all your reports and show you which ads, keywords and traffic sources generated each individual commission.
